The pills

Is the abortion pill legal in Alabama?

Here is the straight answer — not a rumor, and not a lecture.

What Alabama allows

Alabama law makes it unlawful to perform or attempt an abortion except when an attending physician licensed in Alabama determines it is necessary to prevent a serious health risk to the pregnant woman. Except in a medical emergency, a second Alabama-licensed physician must confirm that in writing. Using or prescribing a medicine to end a known pregnancy is inside what that law calls an abortion. That includes the pill.

This is not legal advice. A nurse can sit with the practical part.

Mailed packs are not a loophole

Packs can still arrive in the mail. That does not make them allowed here. A mailbox cannot confirm the pregnancy is in the uterus.

What the law says about you

Under that Act (Ala. Code § 26-23H-5), no woman upon whom an abortion is performed or attempted shall be criminally or civilly liable. Still tell an ER what you took so they can treat you. That is not a general pass for anyone else, and it is not legal advice.

Ask a nurse to follow up

Would you rather chat with a nurse now, or send the form and have someone write back? Free and private. You choose.
